A Soothing Remedy

posted in: Devotionals, God’s Word | 0

Busy thoughts…thoughts that consume your energy. Thoughts that rattle in your head and soon turn into doubt…anxiety…and uncertainty. Maybe the initial thought had none of these negative ingredients added but somehow, someway..the longer it simmered in your mind, the more it grew into an all out worry session. Who doesn’t experience these feelings?  Perhaps the best question to ask is this…

What do we do with these feelings when they appear?
Are we able to manage them or do they begin to manage us?

So often we have circumstances that cause us to feel overwhelmed with fear, doubt, and worry.  What started out as a normal everyday life event somehow received a tiny seed of doubt in the corner of our minds.
The enemy is able to water that seed with his craftiness of lies, giving the doubt an opportunity to grow. It doesn’t take that tiny seed of doubt long before it becomes a huge mountain of less.  The deceiver creates a mountain of lies that says we are much less than we actually are. Less valued, less able, less wisdom, less loved.
Our thoughts become overtaken with an out of control infestation of negative reactions.  What our minds are being fed soon pour out of our mouths with words that support the negative thoughts. And what you speak from your mouth adds strength in declaring what’s going on inside you. In this case, the declaration is not beneficial to your well being. The enemy smiles and says…I have you where I want you now.

But we know that the enemy is a liar….right? Do you know that?  It is true! Can we make a declaration that is good for us right now? Say it out loud with me….satan you are a liar! Say it again, making a confident statement in the atmosphere……

satan you are a liar!

Do you know that God has a soothing remedy for our out of control negative thoughts? His remedy trickles down into every fiber of our being.

Whenever my busy thoughts were out of control,

the soothing comfort of Your presence

calmed me down and overwhelmed me with delight.

Psalm 94:19

The Holy Spirit’s presence brings peace and comfort to our lives. When we start to move our thoughts and energy in His direction rather than the event that brings the mounted fixation against us…..then we find victory.

His remedy trickles down into every fiber of our being.

We have to trust Him.   We have to rely on His Word of promises.  We have to give Him control vs us being out of control.

I’m in control when He’s in control.

Spinning out of control, I feel it

Losing my defenses

No, it′s not easy letting go and trusting You

So I will stop and breathe

Rest here in Your goodness

I know You won′t leave

It′s my confidence

Song: Palm of Your Hand – by Harvest

The soothing comfort of His presence….yeah…there’s nothing else like it.   We don’t have to say anything or do anything…just being confident that all we need is to be in His presence.

His presence comes in and tears down all the infested growth that the enemy has made. And each time another doubt seed is attempted to be sowed, His presence removes the seed before it can even take root.

Wait… it gets even better!  The Holy Spirit doesn’t leave us at that point to go on to the next person. He continues the work….on-going…always there. The vacant hole where the negative seed had been located in our mind, now gets filled with confidence….hope…boldness…joy…victory!

He does not leave us….He continually fills us with what He initially placed within us when we came to accept Him in our lives.

It’s ours! His presence remains and brings soothing comfort.

God transforms our minds and lives through the Holy Spirit.

Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in His eyes. Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭

Thank you Lord for Your soothing Word and Your soothing presence.

I’m in control when You’re in control.

Come Holy Spirit I give You control so I can rest here in Your goodness.
