Eyes That See – 1 of 3

You and I look at many things everyday. If we would count the number of times we look at a clock, watch, phone, computer screen, and TV we might be surprised how much of our time is consumed by these gadgets.

What if we expand our looking to the highway (while driving I hope we do!)? Let’s add looking at our work, our play, our families, and at each other. We would come to agree that our lives are full of moments where we are looking at something all around us all the time.

*“Eyes that look are common. Eyes that see are rare” – J. Oswald Sanders

The phrase reminds me of the 3D hidden image stereograms that I enjoyed gazing at years ago. Those pictures force you to stare beyond the design that was displayed to find another image hidden inside the one on the surface.

Our eyes look at a lot of things, but what do our eyes actually see? Is it possible for us to see something deeper than what appears on the surface?

Is it possible for us to see something deeper than what appears on the surface?

As a believer in Jesus Christ, we call this… seeing things from God’s perspective. God directs us to open our eyes wider to see things we typically may not be looking for.

Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in Your instructions. Psalm 119:18

God’s truths are shared everywhere in the scriptures. If our eyes remain open more consistently to His truths, imagine how our lives would be.

If our eyes would see God’s wonderful truths in His instructions, what do you think that would look like?

I’m sure our reactions and responses would improve. We might not complain as much..maybe not at all! We might be kinder, wiser, slower to speak, slower to anger, quicker to listen, and more helpful. Our attention might be less about me and more about others.

Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. James 1:19

Seeing things from His eyes cause our spiritual senses to expand. We become more positive than negative…more mature than immature…more productive than destructive.

God, can I look through Your lenses more often than through my own?

This post is 1 of 3 titled Eyes That See. Look for the continued theme focus.

Hi, Welcome to my blog . I love my God, my family, music, hikes, Mexican food and coffee. I am passionate about worship and serving Christ. One of my favorite passages is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. “ Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for those who belong to Jesus Christ.” Life has taught me to know a lot but I am not a know it all. Realizing there is always more to learn and experience I continue my spiritual journey. I hope that Lingering In The Oasis will help make your day better, as you continue to travel your journey as well.
