Moo..ve To Be Moved

posted in: Devotionals, God’s Word, Music | 2

I smiled as I flipped the page of my calendar to view next month’s picture.  It’s odd that while I was glancing at my photo of the cows appearing to be still and relaxing in the field, that I hear the phrase move to be moved (with an added cow twist).

I don’t know how long these cows stayed lying in their comfortable position. I made the photo and moved on. Though they were relaxing, I’m sure they eventually moved as well.

We can’t deny that “to be still and know” along with “finding rest” is of the utmost importance in every Christian’s spiritual walk. Remaining still and resting for too long though can label us as being lazy, out of shape, and lacking motivation.

God has a purpose in us moving.

He wants us to be proactive. He tells us to ask, seek, and knock. He made us to move towards Him in worship. We move our hands, our feet, and our voice which all three moves His heart.  We move to pray. We move to serve.

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Matthew 7:8

For in Him we live and move and exist.
Acts 17:28

God required His people to move towards Him with a sacrifice in order for Him to move on their behave.  Jesus came and moved in our place. He moved to die so that we could move to eternity.

Do you have memories of being moved?  I remember going to a conference years ago and wasn’t expecting nor really focusing on being moved. Little did I know that a pivotal moment in my life would take place and I would be moved by God in a fresh new way. Come to think of it, I did have to initiate making the first move for that experience to take place.  I had to think about going, plan my schedule, and drive to the event.

We become more involved in the process than we often realize.

Ordinary people like you and me move to be moved. There were also ordinary proactive people in the Bible (who would not have been on my top character list) that God blessed.

Jabez called upon the Lord and God blessed him. (1 Chronicles 4:10).

Bezalel was an artist God chose to oversee the creation of His tabernacle in the wilderness. (Exodus 35-37)

Priscilla was a servant and teacher of the gospel. (Acts 18)

Rhoda believed without seeing Peter knocking at the door.
(Acts 12:12-15)

Our actions to move forward in what might appear small can open the door for God to move big in our favor and change our tomorrows.

God desires to supply us with the best future possible, as we move in following Him. His favor is working for our advantage. Our tomorrows are moving in the right direction, as we follow the Holy Spirit. Lead on Holy Spirit, lead on.

Lingering Thoughts:

How about you? When was the last time you could say that you were moved by the Lord?  It doesn’t have to be a big impactful event such as I had at a conference.  I love it when I can recognize God moving in my daily circumstances.  I recognize it because I took time to acknowledge Him in my life.  I moved and He moved back.

Maybe you need to see God speak in your life right now. Tell Him what you are experiencing. He already knows but He desires for you to communicate with Him.  He wants to move on your behave because He loves you that much.

Almighty God, You are my everything. Thank you for choosing to hear and answer when I reach out to You.  May I seek You with all my heart. I look forward to Your next move in my life. In Jesus name, Amen.

Hi, Welcome to my blog . I love my God, my family, music, hikes, Mexican food and coffee. I am passionate about worship and serving Christ. One of my favorite passages is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. “ Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for those who belong to Jesus Christ.” Life has taught me to know a lot but I am not a know it all. Realizing there is always more to learn and experience I continue my spiritual journey. I hope that Lingering In The Oasis will help make your day better, as you continue to travel your journey as well.

I remember God speaking audibly through me to tell me i would be leaving the church i was currently at. I didn’t know where i would go or why i would leave. I didnt tell anyone about it and a few months later i had an opportunity to help plant a church. Through that my mom decided to go to that church and ultimately gave her life to Christ. I never would have left my original church. Had i not i dont know what could have happened with my mom or me…..the church actually split in 2 6 months after i left and now has been through so much change and it is actually a satelite church for a mega church now.
