Staying Calm

I feel my heart racing.

The intensity of the moment starts to overtake my breathing. Slow down you tell yourself. Think it out…take deep breathes. Don’t get ahead of yourself. Right now, in this moment, absorb and that is enough. Stop looking too far into the what if future. The variety of outcome scenarios that has your mind speeding past its normal velocity create unhealthy speeding tickets if not careful.

We find ourselves too often in similar situations. There are times we don’t even catch the wind in our lungs and the normality of it becomes a new routine. We suck up another scoop of air and keep moving forward without a second thought. We learn to cope and work around it.

But is that really God’s intend for us?

Cope? Work around it?

He provides the answer, for He created us and shouldn’t He have the best solution as the Creator of all things?

“I leave the gift of peace with you—My peace.
Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but My perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous!” John 14:27

He leaves a present for us to continually unwrap.

Just to have a piece of His fullness would have been much more than this world could offer. But He chose to give us His wholeness. The holiness of His wholeness equals His perfect peace.

We can administer what is freely ours by being courageous in saying His name…just a whisper is all it takes. We shouldn’t wait until everything else fails. To prevent our every things from coming unglued, speak His name often.

He is the One who calmed the winds and the waves. He is the One who causes the demons to tremble and flee. He heals the trouble hearted. He lifts the burdens and the anxiety. He restores our leaky oxygen supply and we can breathe normal again.

Authority and resolution are associated with His name. Wisdom, clarity, breakthrough, and freedom claim residency there.

Jesus, our Prince of Peace.

He gives peace not as the world gives nor has ever
known. It goes beyond our ability to define or understand.

Jesus, Your name becomes a warm blanket on a chilly day.

You bring assurance. You bring confidence. You calm my soul, body and mind. You bring peace.

The holiness of His wholeness equals His perfect peace.

I finally gain expanded lung capacity to worship once again.

I exhale in victory as I am soothed by You, Oh God.

Hi, Welcome to my blog . I love my God, my family, music, hikes, Mexican food and coffee. I am passionate about worship and serving Christ. One of my favorite passages is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. “ Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for those who belong to Jesus Christ.” Life has taught me to know a lot but I am not a know it all. Realizing there is always more to learn and experience I continue my spiritual journey. I hope that Lingering In The Oasis will help make your day better, as you continue to travel your journey as well.
