Water…
God included a huge puddle of it in His creation of this world. It covers over 70% of the earth. It also serves an important role in our bodies since we’re made up of 60% of the wet stuff.
Water is such a vital element in our lives. We crave it, especially when depleted. God also designed it to carry an even greater purpose in our relationship with Him.
I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. John 3:5
The cleansing of water is significant as a believer. It symbolizes the old self being washed away and the refreshing purity of the new that comes as His Spirit enters in. Renewed….Reborn.
When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. Isaiah 43:2
Even when life has you in over your head and there seems to be no place to regain your balance, you can resurface with stability and a new perspective through the process. No matter how many times you go under…..He is there to lift you up and pull you out.
There are unique times our reflection can be seen in the calm of aqua.…our past and our present mirroring back at themselves. For some of us who have been around awhile, the water will display our wrinkles in the ripples. There’s no denying the truth it reveals….our mistakes…regrets….good times, and victories. And all of that is ok. We all need to be real to ourselves in order to keep moving in the flow of life. It all makes us who we are. It all makes us better.
For others, water can comfort the heart that needs to mend where love seems to have failed us.
“Love is like water. No matter how you cut it, slice it, beat it, or blow it into ten trillion droplets, give it a few minutes and it will all come back together again. Like nothing ever happened. No scar. No shrapnel. Just one giant body of water. Clear. Clean. Cool.”
The Water Keeper – Charles Martin.
Water is adaptable. It reshapes without flaw. It quickly heals and returns to its original self. More of us could learn from it’s abilities because of the One who made us both. It’s like… we may bend over very far and yet stay together. We will fall and be thrown against the rocks but not be broken. We will crash into the deepest most bottomless places but still successfully float to the top.
From pounding steady waves that encourage us that strength is on-going to glassy calms of stillness that reassures us of peace that comes just as frequently, we can gain so much from water.
We drink it in and it takes us with it….riding its current now and into eternity.
Then the angel showed me a river. It had water that gives true life to people. The water shone like clean glass. The river of water started from the throne where God and the Lamb sit to rule. Revelation 22:1
Water that offers true life for all…now and forever more.
