Some things just don’t fit.
My pants – That screw..that bolt
Those shoes – This key
Her jacket – That lid
They say timing is everything. I can see that in most things…especially when it comes to sports.
That swing, his release, her speed.
Too early or too late can cause a strike out, missed catch, no medal.
Life has a way of presenting itself in the same fashion…. Lingering In The Oasis is no exception.
From our ever growing library of past devotionals to our on going new releases, typically I prepare a month ahead the weekly devotional that’s posted every Wednesday morning.
This time of year highlights many of our NC mountain encounters. You’ll see scenes of hiking trails that Annette and I have traveled, wonderful waterfalls we have gazed upon, and the beautiful Fall colors that canopy the sky. As I was in the planning and organizing stage of our up coming posts, I realized the charming scenery that’s displayed in these posts didn’t fit with what had just recently happened in these areas.
Too soon
As our country has been made aware of, Hurricane Helene left historic devastation in the Western regions of NC, along with 5 other states.
I know my blog and posts are so minor and insignificant in relationship to the masses of loss for the communities in all of these areas.
But it did make me realize that timing is everything…. even in the smallest form. That dominos continue to fall long after trees and roads are washed away. That posting a lovely hike taken in the Smokey Mtns at this time doesn’t fit when homes, businesses, cars, and even lives have been lost in the same places we treasure.
Lingering In The Oasis central focus and mission is to inspire and encourage others. It’s a spiritual nurturing place where many find comfort, peace, and joy. As we love what we do and will continue to strive to do that, pausing to wait….to reflect…to lift up….to understand fits in times like these.
It’s too soon to posts what I had originally planned. It just doesn’t fit in my mind and I believe it wouldn’t fit for others as well.
There will come a day when the timing will be right again. God heals, mends and restores. He uses our tragedies as open windows of enhancement to make things better for our lives. We so often can’t explain it. We don’t understand God’s amazing provision, but that’s what makes Him so amazing. Thank you God that we have You.
You see…You know…You care.
Please continue to pray for the many effected in the NC mtns and other surrounding areas. If possible, please support the organizations that are out there to help with the massive needs that will be on going for a long time.
There will come a day when things will fit much better for us all.
